Getting things done!

Seems like I have been trying to get this post up for weeks... 

Here is what’s on my sewing table…

This has been a fun quilt. I am loving it. I had bought a bolt of fabric I thought I wanted to use on this quilt, and then… I saw the pattern from Windham Fabrics for the Good Vibrations fabric line, and then it was all over. I am changing the plan and making the borders look like a piano keyboard.  The piano works great with the theme of this quilt. The recipient has been playing the piano for years, many years (and he is only 18), he is very accomplished and his mother is very proud of him. The piano border is perfect. This quick quilt just got a little less quick. But I love it.

And, Here is what is off the sewing table.

A year later the Redwork Revival BOM that Lisa and I designed and taught at the Parish Quilt shop is OVER. As soon as Glamping yardage is available, I will put the final borders on this, and then I need to make time for the quilting.

Now for the American Beauty photos I promised.

I ran into a problem with them. As you can see, many of them are blurry. Our weather is so dreary here in the Pacific North West, and we have a serious lack of sunshine. I kind of blew it, I didn’t look at the photos before I delivered the quilt. Now I have out of focus photos, but…just for the record, Julie loved her quilt. These are what I have for photos of this quilt.

Here are the finishes for the last couple weeks.

I have had a couple quilts that were quick and fun. I quilted a couple quilts with fabric from Afric. This is not the first time I have quilted fabric from Africa, I have a pretty hard time keeping things square. I finished them, but they were just quick quilts that I had to pin and pin to keep square. My customer loved them. The quilts were made from clothes her children had when they lived in Africa. She wanted to remember them and use them in a quilt. How great is that.

These photos are not a great quality, but you get the idea. 

I then got busy on the Fabulous Felines Quilt.

It is so hard to see the detail of the quilting on this dark fabric, sorry these photos are the best I have. This was a fun quilt from one of my regular quilters. Marla seems to keep a quilt or two running through me. I appreciate your patients and thank you! Now I had better get back to quilting.

One more embroidery project...

Betsy's Closet in Stitches :)

This is the latest addition to my project list. It's called Betsy's Closet - In Stitches, and I ordered it from Shabby Fabrics here in Washington. I do not know if she has many left, but this was too cute to pass up, I recommend getting one for your stash. This kit comes with wonderful Cosmo floss, and it has the backing and binding fabric. This is such a small project just 24" x 28 1/2". It should take no time at all to finish. I am already thinking about how to quilt it.

I really enjoy doing Embroidery...I try to do a little on my lunch hour (30 minutes), every couple days. I thread up 4 needles and put them in my little bag with my project, and at lunch I just stitch until the thread is gone, thread up 4 more needles and put it away.

My embroidery list is getting pretty long, I have finished all the embroidery for Rabbits Prefer Embroidery by Bunny Hill Designs, I just need to sew everything together and get the scallops done (the part I am dreading), but I should be finishing it soon.

I caught the embroidery bug after I quilted the Winter Wonderland by Crab Apple Hill.  I also started it shortly after that... I am on the snow family block now, I will put it back in my rotation, and see if I can get this finished. Since I am on the embroidery subject, I thought I would pull out some of the old photos and show you. This is an awesome quilt, I just love the way it turned out.

 

These photos are from a quilt I quilted for my customer. She was one of my first customers, in 2010 when I first started to quilt, she was very happy with the quilt. I was so shocked that someone would hand over a quilt that they stitched on for about a year. Wow, I had a little anxiety on this one.

These photos were taken before I had a plan and a good way to take photos. Like I said before, I think she was one of the first 10 customers I had.  I have a blue version of this quilt on my waiting list, I should be quilting it at the end of the month. I am kind of excited to get going on it....

Yea, I still have this block to stitch, I started it, and I used a blue water soluble pen, and the blue started to disappear. Lessons learned DO NOT USE BLUE PENS ON BIG PROJECTS. Since I backed my white fabric with Hobbs Thermore batting, I will not be using a light box when I remark the fabric with the Frixion pens this time, I will have to project the image on it and trace. Lucky me... and lessons learned.

 

The two snowmen in a snowball fight is my favorite block. Looking at these old photos makes me want to make a wall hanging of that block at least. 

I have a couple other embroidery projects on the waiting list, and I am trying not to add too many new ones, but I really liked Betsy's Closet in stitches. I could not resist. I will need to make an action list and see if I can stick with it, and get it done :P.  Here are some of the projects high on my priority list:

• Snowmen A to Zzz, taking the BOM
• Snow Happens - Table runner, quick and cute I should have it done in a week or two, the way I stitch.
• A couple little kits from Carriage County Quilts, I didn't see them on her web site, and I know that is where I bought them. She has a couple great designs from On Pins and Needles, I have only seen at her shop.
• All the seasons pillows from Crab Apple Hill, all of them... 
• Then I have lots of little patterns, some with great potential, and very limited time. 

I have a bunch of photos of some of the quilts I have finished this last couple weeks, I may have to just post a bunch of photos this week (one of the quilts is a beautiful cross stitch), but I am out of time, and I have to get going to deliver a customers quilt.
