One more embroidery project...

Betsy's Closet in Stitches :)

This is the latest addition to my project list. It's called Betsy's Closet - In Stitches, and I ordered it from Shabby Fabrics here in Washington. I do not know if she has many left, but this was too cute to pass up, I recommend getting one for your stash. This kit comes with wonderful Cosmo floss, and it has the backing and binding fabric. This is such a small project just 24" x 28 1/2". It should take no time at all to finish. I am already thinking about how to quilt it.

I really enjoy doing Embroidery...I try to do a little on my lunch hour (30 minutes), every couple days. I thread up 4 needles and put them in my little bag with my project, and at lunch I just stitch until the thread is gone, thread up 4 more needles and put it away.

My embroidery list is getting pretty long, I have finished all the embroidery for Rabbits Prefer Embroidery by Bunny Hill Designs, I just need to sew everything together and get the scallops done (the part I am dreading), but I should be finishing it soon.

I caught the embroidery bug after I quilted the Winter Wonderland by Crab Apple Hill.  I also started it shortly after that... I am on the snow family block now, I will put it back in my rotation, and see if I can get this finished. Since I am on the embroidery subject, I thought I would pull out some of the old photos and show you. This is an awesome quilt, I just love the way it turned out.

These photos are from a quilt I quilted for my customer. She was one of my first customers, in 2010 when I first started to quilt, she was very happy with the quilt. I was so shocked that someone would hand over a quilt that they stitched on for about a year. Wow, I had a little anxiety on this one.

These photos were taken before I had a plan and a good way to take photos. Like I said before, I think she was one of the first 10 customers I had.  I have a blue version of this quilt on my waiting list, I should be quilting it at the end of the month. I am kind of excited to get going on it....

Yea, I still have this block to stitch, I started it, and I used a blue water soluble pen, and the blue started to disappear. Lessons learned DO NOT USE BLUE PENS ON BIG PROJECTS. Since I backed my white fabric with Hobbs Thermore batting, I will not be using a light box when I remark the fabric with the Frixion pens this time, I will have to project the image on it and trace. Lucky me... and lessons learned.

The two snowmen in a snowball fight is my favorite block. Looking at these old photos makes me want to make a wall hanging of that block at least.

I have a couple other embroidery projects on the waiting list, and I am trying not to add too many new ones, but I really liked Betsy's Closet in stitches. I could not resist. I will need to make an action list and see if I can stick with it, and get it done :P.  Here are some of the projects high on my priority list:
  • Snowmen A to Zzz, taking the BOM
  • Snow Happens - Table runner, quick and cute I should have it done in a week or two, the way I stitch.
  • A couple little kits from Carriage County Quilts, I didn't see them on her web site, and I know that is where I bought them. She has a couple great designs from On Pins and Needles, I have only seen at her shop.
  • All the seasons pillows from Crab Apple Hill, all of them...
  • Then I have lots of little patterns, some with great potential, and very limited time.
I have a bunch of photos of some of the quilts I have finished this last couple weeks, I may have to just post a bunch of photos this week (one of the quilts is a beautiful cross stitch), but I am out of time, and I have to get going to deliver a customers quilt.
Thanks for checking in, I appreciate the time, and leave me a comment.  I would love to hear whats on your projects list and share some of your wonderful patterns, maybe I can add a few to my list.

Whirlwind week

Who knows where to start?

Well... I had a great class at Parkland Parish on the 15th of September.
I just want to say thanks to all the ladies that were there. I want to offer any help if wanted or needed to finish those quilts, we can't quilt them if we don't finish them. ;)  Those of you that are still planning, drop me a line, I may have a good solution. Just email and I will see if I can help.

I offered up my Pineapple salsa recipe to anyone that leaves a comment on my blog, and I guess people are a little shy??
load up the foodprocessor with onion, pineapple, red pepper, cilantro, and some line and Jalapeno. PULSE .... done.
Enjoy... and just look at my new feather doodle under that bowl of salsa? They both are much better in person.

I have so much more that I have been up to. Several quilts have been finished and the quilt show down in Portland. I will be posting some new photos from the show and some quilts I just finished. Check back in here is a quick peek at one of the quilts.

Let me know what you think?

I know... I think it is so...feathered. Just the way I love to quilt.
Thanks for checking in, I appreciate the time, and leave me a comment I would love to hear what you think about the quilting.

Wonderful Summer flower quilt

The cutest little girl quilt ever!

My customer made this quilt for her granddaughter and it is just one of the cutest quilts ever. :)

This is a photo of the whole quilt. We were having some rain here in Bonney Lake, so I couldn't photograph the quilt outside, and I had to deliver the quilt. :(
Here is a closeup of the feathered flowers, and the background swirl. I love the swirl in the background.
Here are a couple photos that include the feather border. and the cute little pots that I just love.
Another closeup with the background and the flower petals.
I had so much fun with this quilt. I love the Lakehouse fabrics. The colors work so well with the theme of the quilt.

 Another closeup.

What a great quit. I need to make one, I really liked the way the final quilt looked. The quilt was lightly quilted, but what a great final product.

Thanks for looking and keep in touch. We are about to get the blog going full time and I am excited to get rolling and see if the internet likes my quilting as much as my customers do.

If you are interested in my quilting and are wanting to have me quilt for you, please checkout my website at www.starlitquilts.com email me, or call I will be happy to talk to you about your quilt.

BOM Madness!

  • Memories of Provence
  • "Fat Quarter Shop's" Mystery Block using the "Vintage Modern" fabric line by Moda
  • and Redwork Revival, This is a quilt my friend and I are designing this with one of the LQS here in the Tacoma area. I still had to write the directions and get all the cutting instructions finished.
Talk about falling behind! So below you will see all the cutting I had to get finished, before I could even get started sewing. I took 2 hours to cut them, and about 3 to get them all sewn together. What a time hole. :)

 Before

3 BOMs in pieces :) Before sewing

After

My finished Vintage Modern Block - 3 :) I love this quilt
Our finished Redwork Revival block - 7

One more month done, I hate this quilt. Way too much cutting an sewing, trimming and sewing...
besides, I am not crazy about the fabric.

And....This is what I had on the frame.

A couple photos of the quilt out in the sun. Wow, It looks good to me, I hope she is happy with it.
This is from a coworker, it took her almost a year to stitch, and then I had it in my lineup for almost 6 months.

And then... The Garden Bliss class is coming soon!

Lots of cutting and getting ready to teach the class. I have so many projects going I hope I can remember them all. This is the start of the quilt. Lots of cutting and getting ready to sew. This quilt is so easy to sew together. I make it harder by being such a stickler for pressing and pinning. It takes so much time to be a pressing fanatic, but it is so perfect when you are finished, I am happy to
oblige.  I just love a square quilt. I had posted some pictures of this quilt I posted earlier last month, the fabric was California Girl, by Fig Tree Quilts. I love the quilt in any fabric so far. (I want to get one finished with Christmas fabric and quilt it like Christmas balls.)

Okay, I have to get back to quilting, and I will try to step up the posts a little more regularly :)
thanks for checking in - star
